ACE ART

ABOUT

This annual art competition promotes understanding and respect for elders through creative expression. Students create beautiful artwork inspired by their grandparents’ lives, and artwork pieces become gifts for community elders.

ACE Art 2024 Champion

ACE Art is a meaningful activity that reminds me of many moments I spent with my elders. In addition, I would also like to thank my teacher for his guidance and encouragement, and for giving me many valuable suggestions during my creative process.

I chose “warmth” as the theme of my creation because it gives me a warm, soft and comfortable feeling. I hope that the elder who receives this fan can see and touch this love, because love can weave cross-generational bonds.

Before painting on the tambourine, I asked my grandmother about her favourite childhood activities. She mentioned games that I had never heard of which made me want to try them out. I live with my grandma and we often play card games like UNO or traditional games like paper fortune teller together,  she’s my good friend. I hope my work will bring back happy memories for elders in the community too.

Let's hear from...

Ms Kwong, Teacher, S.K.H. Tin Shui Wai Ling Oi Primary School

I really enjoyed the process of working with students on this programme. Through creating artwork for the elderly, I witnessed that they put a lot of thought into developing the idea for their piece. The students thought about what elders would want, how to make them happy, and how important they are to society. The students benefited a lot from this programme.
